Our Impact in Texoma
Bringing Live Music to Students and Support to Educators
For many students in our region, the WFSO’s education programs provide their first opportunity to experience live symphonic music, interact with professional musicians, and explore orchestral instruments firsthand.
Whether through school visits, classroom instruction, or concert experiences, our goal is simple:
To inspire lifelong engagement with music and the arts while helping students develop the skills and confidence to succeed.
Our Programs

Young People's Concert
Each year, 1,500+ Texoma students attend the Young People’s Concert performed by the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra. Designed for elementary school students, this free, curriculum-connected performance introduces young audiences to the instruments of the orchestra, the art of musical storytelling, and the excitement of a live symphony concert.

Artist-in-Residence Program
Teaching artists from the WFSO collaborate with middle and high school orchestra directors at WFISD schools to provide individualized instruction, sectionals, and mentorship for student musicians, strengthening school orchestra programs and supporting the next generation of musicians.

Instrument Petting Zoo
Students can participate in hands-on opportunities to explore the instrument families of the orchestra, discovering how each instrument creates a unique sound. Often, just a single interaction can spark a lifelong interest in music.

In-School Masterclasses
Guest artists and WFSO musicians visit local schools to perform, teach, and share insights about music and artistic careers.

Apprentice Program with the Youth Symphony
Advanced student musicians that are a part of the YSO gain valuable orchestral experience by rehearsing and performing alongside WFSO musician mentors, developing skills that prepare them for future musical opportunities.
