First United Methodist Church first began in 1881 meeting in homes, a log schoolhouse, and the courthouse. There were 2 other building locations before the church bought the corner of Tenth and Travis streets.
The current First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls building was constructed between August 1926 and September 1928. The magnificent Gothic Sanctuary seats around 760 people. Since then, a countless number of events have taken place in the church, including concerts from Midwestern State University and the Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra.
