A sense of discovery and intrigue unfolds from the first note with Elena Kats-Chernin’s lively Zoom and Zip, a playful and colorful work that sparkles with bright winds, and energetic strings. One of the evening’s most exciting moments features four of the WFSO’s principal wind players in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major, a brilliant conversation between soloists and orchestra. The music concludes with Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony No. 8, a hauntingly beautiful work that continues to fascinate audiences nearly two centuries later.
