Philip Chisum

Born in Wichita Falls in 1988, Philip Chisum’s earliest experience with symphonic orchestras was with the WFSO. He began playing the cello at the age of 9 as a student of Anita Marquardt. Over the next several school years, he grew to really enjoy playing the cello, eventually majoring in music at Texas Tech University. Philip later changed his major to History and transferred to Midwestern State University, culminating in him earning an MA in history in 2017. Philip was awarded a spot with the WFSO in 2014, then under the direction of Candler Schaffer, and has been performing with the WFSO ever since. Philip married Sarah Hynes in December of 2011 and they very proudly have 4 children together.
