Sharon Deuby

Clarinetist Sharon Knox Deuby loves exploring the many sides of music—from orchestral and concert band performances to chamber music and solo appearances. She shares her passion for music with students of all ages and being a clinician gives her the chance to inspire others on their musical journeys. Sharon is proud to be a Henri Selmer Paris and Conn-Selmer Clarinet Artist.

Sharon’s musical experiences have taken her to many stages. She is the Co-Principal Clarinet with the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, where she has been performing since 2005. Sharon also serves as Principal Clarinet for the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and is Associate Principal Clarinet with the Dallas Winds. Sharon has performed on all 23 Dallas Winds recordings, which have earned international recognition and Grammy nominations. Sharon has performed as a concerto soloist with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and Richland String Orchestra and will be performing with her Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra colleagues in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in March 2027. She has been a soloist or served as a clinician for the Texas Music Educators Association Conference, International Clarinet Association, OU Clarinet Symposium, Texas Clarinet Colloquium, Clarinet Solutions and University of Texas at Tyler. In her Texas Winds Musical Outreach concerts, she performs for Head Start schools throughout Dallas County, which give very young children the opportunity to experience live music and instruments.

Sharon is an adjunct professor at Dallas College, where she teaches Clarinet and chamber ensemble. Additionally, she teaches masterclasses for Plano ISD and maintains a home studio. Sharon is a member of the clarinet faculty for the Dallas Winds Band Camp and Honor Bands and served as the Clarinet Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler from 2016 – 2023.

Sharon received her Master of Music in Performance from Michigan State University and Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in Special Education from Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. Her primary teachers include Fred Ormand, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr, Stephen Girko, Allen Sigel and Alan Woy, as well as special training with Donald Montanaro.

Outside of music, she finds joy in sailing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, and photography and cherishes time spent with her family and three adored “road treasure” dogs.
