Shawna Hamilton

Shawna Hamilton has been playing cello for thirty five years. She received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Performance at the University of North Texas where she studied with cello professor Eugene Osadchy. While working towards her degrees, she sat as principal of the UNT Symphony from 2002 to 2005, won the concerto competition in 2001 playing the Beethoven Triple Concerto, and in 2005 performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto.

She began playing with the Wichita Falls Symphony soon after she graduated from UNT in 2005 and sat as Principal of East Texas Symphony from 2008 to 2017. Ms. Hamilton has played in music festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, and the Des Moines Metro Opera. In addition to performing with WFSO, she plays regularly with the Texas Camerata and has sat assistant principal of the Dallas Opera Orchestra since 2013.
